The Steam Packet is advising that adverse weather forecast for this evening may affect tonight’s Ben-my-Chree sailing.
On the company’s website, it said that the 7.45pm crossing to Heysham could be subject to delays or possible cancellation which would also affect the return sailing.
The Ronaldsway Met Office is forecasting that ’rain will become persistent this evening and continue overnight, turning heavy at times’.
And it added: ’The wind will also increase further becoming strong to gale force with gusts of 45mph expected quite widely across the island, but up to 50mph in more exposed spots.
’The strong winds lead to lots of falling leaves and some debris, which are likely to block some drains giving a risk of localised flooding. Large waves are also expected to break onto exposed coastal roads and promenades around the time of high tide tonight (1.30am).
A final decision on this evening’s sailing will be taken by 6pm.
The Steam Packet said: ’If you have a registered account on our website then you can log on and amend your booking online, alternatively you can contact our reservations team on 661661 or 08722992992 to make alternative arrangements.’
