Winners of the annual Thomas Cranmer Prayer Book Reading Competition will represent the island in a UK contest.
Emer Harlton O’Mahony and Amy Bloch from King William’s College (KWC) will take part in the competition’s national finals.
The event will be held at the Old Palace in Worcestor on February 24, 2018.
This year nine students competed in the island Cranmer competition, where they recited a passage from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer at St George’s Church in Douglas.
The awards involve children from the age of 11 to 19, who read one or more pieces that last three to five minutes long.
Emer claimed first place in the senior section with Marie Zoe Cilliers from KWC coming in second place.
Amy won the intermediate section with Henry Davies from KWC in second place and Phoebe Davies was the junior winner ahead of Kierran Douglas, both attend Buchan School.
Winners received prize money and a trophy for their efforts and all entrants were gifted a certificate.
