The history of the island’s role in one of the most famous maritime disasters will be presented in Castletown this weekend.

The Wanderer and the Lusitania will tell the story of the crew of the small Peel fishing boat, the Wanderer, after they went to the aid of the huge passenger liner, the Lusitania, after it was sunk by a German submarine off the south coast of Ireland during the First World War.

Hosted by Manx National Heritage, the talk will take place on Sunday, September 22, from 11am, at the Nautical Museum, Bridge Street, Castletown.

The presentation is free to attend, but places must be reserved.
