Cronk-y-Voddy Ploughing Society is holding its 27th produce show and ’big spud’ weigh in on Thursday, September 17.

It is being held in the marquees at Ballakaighen Farm, Cronk-Y-Voddy by permission of the Cannan family.

The event will begin at 3pm opened by government minister Ray Harmer MHK.

The big spud weigh-in will follow soon after where all the tubs brought to the show will be emptied and weighed to see who the winner with the heaviest crop is.

The classes in the show will be for vegetables, flowers, confectionary, photography and will also include children’s classes.

There will be a change to the show this year as the lanket and suggane making will be held during the daytime instead of the evening.

The class will be ’Manx craft’ and this will include the lanket, suggane thumb rope, corn dollies, bumbee cages or any other Manx craft people wish to do.

All entries will be accepted on Wednesday evening between 7:30pm and 9.30pm and also on the day of the show between 9.30am and 11.30am.

During the evening there will be a prize presentation held at 7:30pm followed by the auction of produce.

All proceeds will go to the Manx Blind Welfare Society.
