A total of £903 has been raised for Bowel Cancer Isle of Man at a series of fitness classes.

Organised by Heather Norman, chairman of the charity, and Carrefour Health Club, the sessions took place at the Douglas gym on Saturday (April 21).

The fundraiser was held in memory of James Carr who died from bowel cancer in 2016, at the age of 35.

Donna Whaley, one of the instructors, said: ’The sessions were well attended, with James’ family and friends coming along, and everyone was really generous. The purpose was to raise awareness that the disease can affect young people too.

’James was well-known by the gym staff and members, as he would train here five to six times a week. He also played football and was a very sporty guy.’
