Whatever would ’Del Boy’ Trotter and his younger brother Rodney have made of this?
All 64 episodes of the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses starring David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are up for grabs in an online auction aimed at raising thousands of pounds for the Friends of Noble’s Hospital.
Over 41 hours of ’pukka’ viewing are guaranteed and the box set was signed by actor John Challis aka ’Boycie’ when he visited the Isle of Man on February 26, 2016, making it a collector’s item.
The successful bidder will also take home a signed photo of ’Boycie’ complete with cigar and a glass of bubbly.
The online auction of signed memorabilia has been launched by the island’s Sporting and Dining Club who say 100% of all funds raised will go directly to the charity to help secure vital medical supplies and equipment needed to fight Covid-19.
Also on offer are soccer gloves signed by Liverpool goalkeeping hero Bruce Grobbelaar. The Anfield hero signed the gloves when he visited the island in 2017.
Also thrown in are signed photographs of other Liverpool speakers in the island, Alan Kennedy, Jan Mølby and Ronnie Whelan, for good measure.
There’s also a signed photograph of motorcycle hero John Surtees.
The picture shows the world champion motorcyclist and racing driver John Surtees sitting astride the 500cc Manx Norton during International Motorcycle races on April 9, 1955, at the Silverstone Circuit in Towcester in Northamptonshire.
The photo was signed for the Sporting and Dining Club, when Surtees was unable to appear as a guest because of ill health in the last year of his life.
Also among the collectables are signed pieces from the late great Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, a replica Ashes Trophy and much more.
John Wannenburgh of the Sporting and Dining Club said: ’The Friends of Noble’s Hospital have been supporting our key frontline hospital staff since 1951. They have financed more than £1m worth of facilities and equipment over the last 10 years, including more recently the purchase of nine new ventilators.
’We want to help, so donating these rare signed collectibles through an online auction was a way we could.’
The auction has gone live with all bids being made through the site www.jumblebee.co.uk/sportinganddiningclub. The auction is due to end at midnight on Sunday.
