Centenarian Evelyn Teare celebrated her 100th birthday in style.
Evelyn, the widow of former Ramsey MHK Dr Douglas Teare, whose family founded the Ramsey Courier, was ’tickled pink’ to receive a birthday card from Her Majesty the Queen.
On the day of her birthday last Thursday, she attended a party held in her honour at the Park Hotel, in Ramsey.
Nineteen members of her family travelled over to the island from the UK to celebrate with her, including her three sons Richard, Philip and Martin.
She was also visited on her birthday by Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney.
The next day, another party was held for Evelyn at the Grove Mount residential home in Grove Mount South, Ramsey, which she moved into three and a quarter years ago.
Family friend Terry Groves said: ’Evelyn walked into the hotel and stayed there four an half hours.
’She was very animated and was chatting to the Governor for half an hour.
’She was tickled pink to get a birthday card from the Queen.’
