A charity fundraising event will take place in May for the twelfth year.

The Children’s Centre’s Race the Sun 2021 is set to take place Saturday May 22.

Starting at sunrise, teams of 10 must complete a lap of the 100-mile Raad ny Foillan coastal footpath before the sun sets. And for the first time since 2014, the race is to be run anti-clockwise.

Head of The Children’s Centre Joff Whitten said: ’Last year we didn’t have the opportunity to host Race the Sun as the island was in Lockdown due to the pandemic so it’s very exciting for us that we going to give it a go this year and will be keeping all our fingers and toes crossed the island stays clear and we can run this wonderful event.’

The Children’s Centre hopes to raise funds to help children, young people and families using their services. The highest total raised was £13,000.
