Standard Bank Isle of Man employee Rachel Lee completed the Liverpool Half Marathon in support of Hospice Isle of Man.

Rachel, who is also a volunteer at the Hospice, raised more than £1,400 for the charity, which included a £250 donation from her employer Standard Bank.

Rachel, Standard Bank’s head of distribution for international banking, said: ‘I’ve been a volunteer at Hospice for more than 15 years now and see its challenges clearly.

‘Without the support of public donations, its volunteers and fundraisers, the Hospice couldn’t continue to provide its services free of charge to patients, their families and carers.

‘Last year presented me with some health issues, and as far as my physical and mental recovery was concerned, I decided to run the Liverpool Half Marathon.

‘I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise some funds for Hospice Isle of Man too. It was my 16th half marathon and my most challenging yet, but I was overwhelmed at the support I received from my employer, Standard Bank, my colleagues, friends, and family and, of course, Hospice Isle of Man. To have raised over £1,400 is an absolute delight and I hope, no matter how small, it will make a difference to the wonderful work the charity does day in and day out.’

Standard Bank was recently announced as one of the corporate sponsors of Hospice Isle of Man’s ‘Big Splash 2022’ initiative. The bank is sponsoring one of 30 large dolphin sculptures.
