The RAF Association is holding two events to commemorate those who fought in the Second World War and the centenary of the RAF.

The association supports current and former RAF personnel, their partners, widows or widowers and other family members.

The first event is a concert held today (Friday), at St George’s Church, Douglas, from 7pm.

The concert will be raising money for the RAFA Wings Appeal and Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band.

Val Cowley and Singers will be performing.

Tickets are £1 on the door and there will be light refreshments served afterwards.

Then on Sunday, September 16, there will be a parade and church service at St George’s Church, Douglas.

The parade will begin at 10.30am from the junction of Buck’s Road and Hill Street and go along Hill Street towards the church.

The service will then begin at 11am and is being held to commemorate the Battle of Britain and mark the centenary of the RAF.

All veterans of all services are welcome to attend, and the RAFA have said that standards are welcome.
