Ramsey will host a celebratory street party to help mark the island’s national week this weekend.

’Ramsey Rocks’ will take place on Sunday, July 5, with a stage set up across Market Square and family entertainments running along the quayside.

Local group the Tides will open the show, followed by Southern States and A Stone’s Throw, with AC/DC tribute group Little Bit O’Rosie finishing off the night.

The free Ramsey Rocks day has been organised by commissioner Juan McGuinness, who thinks that now is a perfect time to hold a street party in Ramsey.

’We had planned to run Sprintfest again this year, which is a couple of days of bands and entertainment over the TT weekend and Mad Sunday’, said Juan.

’However, that was obviously cancelled when Covid-19 rolled into view.

’Luckily, though, once we were given the all clear, we were able to move quickly and organise Ramsey Rocks.

’We have four bands playing, all of them are well connected with Ramsey in some way.

’I think a party is what we all need now. We’ve all been cooped up at home for the past few months and I think that a lot of people will be looking forward to a night where they can get together, enjoy a drink on the harbour and eat some of the great food on offer around Ramsey.

’Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.’

The entertainment will run from 4pm until 10pm.
