Ramsey Commissioners has appointed a town warden, a role previously undertaken by external contractors.

The warden will help to enforce the byelaws, including litter and dog regulations.

Chairman Andy Cowie said: ’It’s great news. Hopefully it will mean a more focussed and successful approach. The warden’s presence has already been noticed in the town.’

Deputy town clerk Steven Bevan said: ’Incidents of fouling should be reported and we will respond within two working hours.’

He added that the main retail areas would be cleaned every day.
