The rate of inflation has jumped.
According to government figures, it hit 2.3% in August, up from 1.6% the month before.
One of the main reasons is the rising price of oil.
Petrol was 9.6% higher than it was 12 months earlier, while heating oil - which many Manx homes use for central heating - was 21% higher than August 2017.
Over the last 12 months, fares and other travel costs rose 8.4%, while tobacco jumped 31.3%
Food was 0.6% more expensive, while alcohol got 2.5% more expensive.
