The third book in the popular children’s series ’Tram Tales of the Manx Electric Railway’ has just been published by Loaghtan Books.

The Really Big Surprise is written and illustrated by Sara Goodwins, priced at £5.95 and is available throughout the island.

In the book, as in real life, the trams of the Manx Electric Railway are looking forward to a big birthday.

Sara explained: ’The trams of the Manx Electric Railway celebrate their 125th birthday at the beginning of September 2018.

’The celebrations include a visit from Rose, one of the horse trams from the Douglas Bay Tramway, and her horse, Douglas.

’A surprise is also planned for the birthday, although none of the motormen and conductors will tell the trams what it is.

’The Really Big Surprise describes how Sven the Number Seven, and his friends, find out what the surprise is.’

Sara added: ’The stories in the series are based on the exploits of the trams of the Manx Electric Railway and combines accuracy with fun.

’We’ve caught several adults reading them too - including one or two of the tram crews!

’Stick to Safety’ and ’Something on the Line’ are the other two books in the Tram Tales of the Manx Electric Railway series.
