Mountain biking fundraiser ’Paint the Plantation Pink’ will take place on later this month at Archallagan.
The aim of the event, which is now in its third year, is to bring together women of all ages who enjoy riding their bikes.
The sponsored cyclists can turn up anytime between 10am and 4pm and complete as many laps of the 2.86-mile course as they want.
SMP Partners, a trust and corporate services firm, is sponsoring the ’Most Laps’ award for the team which completes the most circuits in six hours.
The winning team will receive a trophy and prizes.
Event organiser Mel Dowling said: ’Paint the Plantation Pink is for women of all fitness levels and ability, and we’d encourage anyone who owns a mountain bike to get involved. People who wouldn’t normally enter events can ride alongside and pick-up tips from more experienced cyclists, while raising money for charity.’
All entrants pay a fee to take part and must also commit to raising a minimum of £30 sponsorship. The money will be split between Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Manx Breast Cancer Support Group.
Mark Denton, managing director at SMP Partners, said: ’We’re pleased to be supporting this unique event again. As well as being focused around cycling, an activity which can improve general health and well-being, it’s also a way of raising money for four charities that do so much to help people during difficult times.’
The event takes place on Saturday, April 28.
