The Captain of Lonan Parish, Stephen Carter, has presented an inscribed certificate to Vicki Hewison of the Whim Boutique, Laxey.

Each Captain of the Parish can make an annual award to some person or body who is considered to have made a significant or meritorious contribution to the parish.

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, Mrs Hewison quickly set up the organisation Laxey Lifeline, which was established to enable a team of volunteers to provide help and support for the elderly and vulnerable in Lonan, Laxey and Maughold, collecting and delivering food, medicines and other essential supplies during the lockdown period.

Mrs Hewison, who was joined by a number of her volunteers, was also presented with two bouquets of flowers by vice chairman of Garff Commissioners Nigel Dobson, one from Garff Commissioners and one from the people of Garff.

Also attending to show their appreciation of the work of Mrs Hewison and Laxey Lifeline were the President of Tynwald Steve Rodan, Garff MHKs Daphne Caine and Martyn Perkins and Garff Commissioners Marinda Faragher, Julie Pinson and Peter Kennish.
