Registration for one of the island’s most popular community events is now open.
The 2020 Harbour2Harbour Walk will take place on Sunday, May 17.
Starting at 10am in Castletown Square, participants will follow a route along the southern coast of the island, finishing at the former Marine Biological Centre in Port Erin.
There will be a second start for those who prefer a shorter route. Starting in Port St Mary the three-mile walk goes up to Glen Chass and The Howe before dropping down into Port Erin.
Entry costs £12.50 for adults or £7.50 for under 18s and over 60s.
The event will raise funds for Southern Community Initiatives (SCI), Men in Sheds and Southern Nomads RUFC.
Since the event started almost £30,000 has been raised for the beneficiary charities.
SSCI project co-ordinator and event organiser Janet Bridle says they hope to beat last year’s total number of entries, when a record-breaking 691 participants and more than 40 dogs joined.
Janet said: ’Each year the Harbour2Harbour Walk grows in popularity, attracting participants of all ages and abilities from across the island.
’Although some people use it as training for events such as the Parish Walk, our main emphasis is on it being fun and something that everyone can get involved with, rather than a time trial or race.
’We want to bring the community together and give people the opportunity to catch up with friends, take in some of the island’s lovely coastal and countryside views and get active.’
This is the fifth year building company Dandara has sponsored the walk.
