Residents escaped without injury after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a flat in Braddan.

Three fire engines from Douglas Fire Station, along with the duty officer, were called to the reported property fire at around 1pm today.

On arrival, firefighters found a well-established blaze in the kitchen of the affected flat.

A breathing apparatus team equipped with a hose reel was deployed to tackle and put out the fire.

Two further breathing apparatus teams were then sent in to check neighbouring flats and ensure the fire had not spread.

Once the blaze had been extinguished, crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the affected property.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 90 minutes before the scene was declared safe.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service said residents in the block had been alerted by the building's fire alarm system, allowing them to evacuate safely.

No injuries were reported.
