Amy Gravestock is 13, and lives with her family in Glen Vine.
She is currently a year 8 pupils, and attends St. Ninian’s High School.
Amy is one of the island’s rising stars of the stage and screen. Despite her young age, she has accomplished a great deal of success in her short career.
After winning a school singing competition, aged 5, she joined the ’Sing Up’ stage school, and reached the final of the Young Singer of Mann 2016.
She rose to prominence after winning the Next Big Thing Isle of Man competition, organised by Junior Achievement, before starring in a short film, ’Invader’s Song’, produced on island, alongside film star John Rhys-Davies.
Amy finished off her remarkable year by performing the starring role in the musical ’Mulan’, at the Gaiety Theatre, a role she shared with Robyn-Mae Lawler.
What is your idea of a perfect meal?
Anything Italian, it’s my favourite type of food.
What is your favourite way to relax?
Reading a really good book that I can ’fangirl’ about.
What is your greatest extravagance?
I don’t really know, as I prefer to save than spend.
Do you have any pets?
I have two black Labradors, Isla and Luna, and two cats, Charlie and Millie.
What is your greatest achievement?
Winning ’The Next Big Thing 2017’, and playing ’Mulan’ in JT Poduction’s, Disney’s Mulan Jr at the Gaiety Theatre.
What is your favourite time of the year?
Christmas, I love everything about it!
What is the first job you ever had?
Playing the role of Drema in The Invaders Song, directed by Emma Swinton. I played the lead in the short film which is about a curious young girl, ’who discovers a Viking melody with an ethereal power to lure and mesmerise’. John Rhys-Davies played my dad, which was really cool!
Do you have any irrational fears?
Spiders and needles!
What is your worst habit?
Biting my nails. I’ve tried everything but just can’t stop.
What is your favourite book?
The Hunger Games Trilogy. I read all three books in five days!
What is your favourite TV programme?
I really like ’Stranger Things’ on Netflix, but I also love Glee.
What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?
Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce.
What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?
I love the Gaiety Theatre and Castle Rushen. They’re both really cool!
What is the last show/band that you saw live?
I watched Joseph at the Gaiety, twice, and loved it! But I’m really excited to watch Queen in Manchester during December.
If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?
I would go and watch Les Miserables on Broadway.
Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?
Eddie Redmayne, Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence, they are my favourite actors. I think they are all amazing.
