A 10-year-old girl from Peel has raised more than £1,000 for children’s charity Isle of Play.

River Kelly-Brown ran around Peel three times a week until she reached 100km.

Her mum Madeline said: ’We got off to a good start on March 3 with 4.6 km. By March 19 we’d run 50km.

’On Sunday, River ran the final 3.8km and has now completed her 100 km challenge.’

River told the Manx Independent: ’I’m really happy. I had a lot of support from my friends and family.

’It’s the first time I’ve done something like this and I’d maybe do it again for another charity in the future.’

Isle of Play said that River is ’a total legend’ for raising £1,100 for them and completing her challenge.

River has also written to the Peel Commissioners asking for the West View playground to be upgraded with improved climbing frames.
