The Port St Mary RNLI volunteer crew have participated in two fund-raisers.

The crew donned their yellow wellies and instead of taking to the water in one of the two lifeboats stationed in Port St Mary, they turned their hands to fundraising, hosting a car wash.

The event saw a continuous stream of vehicles cleaned over the three hour period.

The total amount raised from the car wash was just over £600.

Combined with the nearly £400 that was donated at a car boot sale held by the crew less than a week before, around £1,000 has been raised by those who supported both events.

While car owners waited, they were treated to refreshments donated by Shoprite, as well as some delicious cakes baked by members of the station’s fundraising branch.

During the morning the crew proved that no job was too big or too small for them, as they cleaned not only a motorhome but also a local boat.

The crew and fundraising branch of Port St Mary RNLI stated they would like to thanks the local community for their continued support in turning out for both events and making them so successful.

’The funds raised will help to provide our crews with the essential lifesaving equipment they require in order to keep saving lives at sea,’ a spokesman said.
