Roadworks in the centre of Douglas are causing traffic chaos.

A five-week scheme on Circular Road got underway on Monday.

It means that motorists are unable to travel out of Douglas along Circular Road.

Instead they are being funnelled into Athol Street.

Motorists already face long queues leaving Athol Street during rush hour, particularly for those wanting to head straight on down Bank Hill.

The Department of Infrastructure said that the one-way system will be in force until 6pm on Saturday unless the plane and overlay work is completed sooner.
