One of the most iconic rock singers of all time is making a return to the Isle of Man later this year.
Robert Plant will bring his latest music project, Saving Grace, to the Villa Marina for an intimate, acoustic show on Sunday, July 12.
Saving Grace is the newest group from the legendary former Led Zeppelin front man and one that allows him to indulge his roots and folk side.
The group, which is described as a ’musical co-operative’, features Robert sharing vocals with the US blues singer Suzi Dian, and are joined by percussionist Oli Jefferson, Tony Kelsey, on the mandolin, baritone and acoustic guitars and Matt Worley on the banjo, acoustic and baritone guitars, and cuatro, as well as vocals.
Robert only formed Saving Grace in 2019, and the group has so far performed low-key, intimate concerts for small audiences at theatres and festivals around the UK.
With a sound that’s been described as blues and folk-inspired, Saving Grace are said to ’pack a punch, ranging from a whisper to a scream’, and they play a range of folk and blues classics mixed with songs from Robert’s past groups, including The Band of Joy, Raising sand and, of course, Led Zeppelin.
He last performed on the Isle of Man in 2007.
Tickets for the all-seated concert go on sale tomorrow (Friday), at £35, and are available from the Welcome Centre and the Villa Gaiety box office, on 600555, and online from villagaiety.com
