The Rotary Club of Onchan has launched an appeal for funds to help the people of the Caribbean after the devastation of multiple hurricanes.
Appeal coordinator Nigel Dobson said@ ’We have all witnessed the destruction of entire communities, many of them island communities not dissimilar to the Isle of Man, on our television sets and rebuilding these communities is going to be a mammoth task.
’Our aim is to raise funds here on the island and forward the money directly to those in need.
’One hundred per cent of the funds raised will be given to the Hurricane Irma Disaster Recovery Fund, which is managed by Rotarians in the area who give their time and expertise free of charge ensuring that every penny is spent where it will help most.’
Donations can be made by cheque to the Rotary Club of Onchan and sent to 63 Ballachrink Drive, Onchan, IM3 4NE or dropped in to the Art Stores, Strand Street, Douglas, and the Liverpool Arms in Baldrine.
Online donations can be made directly to the club’s bank account using the reference IRMA APPEAL sort code 30-12-80, account number 00711886.
