The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s Manx branch is holding a tap dancing challenge to raise money.
It is encouraging everyone to register and be part of this inaugural island event.
Laura Jones, community fundraiser for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Isle of Man, said: ’To mark 30 years since Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation was founded, we’d like families and dancers to join us from the comfort of their own home (or socially distanced in a studio) to learn a dance routine inspired by Roy Castle’s famous record breaking performance outside the BBC studio.
’Once you’ve signed up - for only £5 - you’ll be sent a video link with a full guide on how to learn the dance routine.
’We’ve got BBC’s The Greatest Dancer finalist Harrison Vaughan to create an interpretation of Roy Castle’s original dance with all the top tips of how to rehearse it at home.’
She added: ’The online registration process is easy - and you can also set up your own Just Giving page to support the charity further. Once perfected, each "tapper" can send us a video of them in action and will receive a special 30th anniversary medal for taking part.’
The charity is also asking dance and stage schools to submit Zoom videos of their pupils strutting their stuff.
To register, click www.roycastle.org/campaigns/IsleofMan to receive a confirmation email, dance tutorials (beginners and advanced) and accompanying music.
’You can also upload your rehearsal videos to our Facebook page so we can cheer each other on with our efforts. Good luck and happy tapping.’
