Rushen Silver Band is performing a concert this Saturday, May 19, at Rushen Primary School to celebrate the life of band stalwart John Crebbin, who died in August.

Known affectionately as Diddles, or Dids, John was part of the band family for more than 70 years.

A life member, he served as chairman, secretary and assistant secretary over the years, and most recently as band president.

Band chairman, Tom Sinden said: ’Everyone connected with the band was deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing in August last year, after a long battle with cancer.

’The concert on Saturday will feature music chosen by John’s family, and has been designed to be a poignant, but upbeat, tribute to one of the band’s longest serving members.

’Proceeds from the concert will be split between Hospice and band funds, so hopefully lots of people will come along to pay tribute to John, and raise money for two good causes at the same time.’

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £7.50 and £1 for under 18s.

They are available in advance from Jim Crebbin (phone 833307) or on the door on the evening itself.
