Rushen Heritage Trust is seeking a new co-ordinator to help with many varied aspects of the dynamic organisation.
Since being established in 2014, the trust has - under four Heritage Action Teams (HATs) which focus on World War Two internment, the story of the land and sea, and tourism - run seven exhibitions, published two books, and set up iomwalks using world beating i-beacon technology.
The main tasks of the coordinator are advising and coordinating HATs, chairing regular meetings with HAT chairs; recruiting new volunteers and maintaining the membership contact database; leading communications through local media, online and quarterly newsletter; overall planning; ensuring that involvement in RHT is fun, and encouraging teamwork, enterprise and wide community involvement, especially among schools and older people.
’Enthusiasm for local heritage and wide community involvement is important, as are IT and people skills,’ said trust co-secretary Hugh Davidson. ’We require someone who can manage and motivate volunteers, has good verbal and written communication, integrity, ability to make things happen, efficient organisation and teamwork. In short, someone smart, honest and committed.’
Living in Rushen, and car ownership are advantages.
The closing date for applications is April 10.
