Salon 3 has been announced as the winner of the Isle of Man Newspapers’ Salon of the Year 2017.
The hair and beauty salon claimed top spot after a number of their customers voted for them using slips published in the Manx Independent.
One of the salon’s founders, Yvonne Karran, said: ’We were absolutely delighted when we got the phone call saying we had won.
’A lot of people came in to say that they had voted for us because of our customer service.
’This is such an achievement as it shows our customers feel cared for. We always make sure that our clients are happy with our service.
’I want to thank everyone for the support they have given all year round. Without you we wouldn’t have won.’
Yvonne set up Salon 3 on Victoria Street, Douglas, with her sister Janet Lancaster and two others 27 years ago.
The salon then moved to the second floor in the Peter Luis building on Duke Street, Douglas, where it was based for nine years before relocating to Victoria Street.
Growing from the original four staff members to 22 hairdressers and beauticians, the business has achieved many awards for their efforts over the years, including the ’Schwarzkopf Essential Looks Creative Competition’ award.
One of the stylists, Jessica Bryan, has also got into this year’s final of the Schwarzkopf Young Artistic Team competition in London and waits to see if she will be named as one of the 12 winners.
Yvonne added: ’It’s a great team to work with.
’We’re quite a tight-knit group who inspire and help each other.’
Votes collected for the island’s favourite hair salon showed that two other businesses were very close to claiming the winning spot, including Drewry’s barbers on Duke Street in Douglas.
However, Salon 3 claimed first prize, receiving a trophy and being given the opportunity to publish a free full-page advert in the newspapers.
The Manx Independent will run the Salon of the Year contest again this year.
