A volunteer for the Ballamona Association for Mental Health raised £1,610 by completing the 85-mile Parish Walk at her fourth attempt.

The charity was formed more than 50 years ago and helps and support Isle of Man residents who access help from mental health services.

Sarah, who was sponsored by family and friends, said: ’I am happy to be a keen volunteer on the hard working Ballamona Association committee.

’Applications are made to us via mental health services and we help fund all kinds of things. Some are large projects and specialist equipment, but also small meaningful things - for example, a gift for every inpatient at Christmas and a daily newspaper for the wards.

’I am thrilled to have raised £1,610 for the association.

’Blister pain is nothing compared to the pain of mental illness and I am happy to have used those thoughts to get me through.’
