The vital role that key workers have played in the island’s community during the coronavirus outbreak has been recognised by Arbory residents in an unusual way.
Roles from healthcare workers to refuse collectors have all been celebrated in Arbory’s annual scarecrow competition. And one entry even pays homage to the Chief Minister.
The competition is normally one of the highlights of the parish fair, Laa Columb Killey, but the event had to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Residents around the parish rose enthusiastically to the challenge and there have been 14 entries into this year’s competition.
Entries closed yesterday (Monday) and judging will take place on what would have been Laa Columb Killey fair day on Thursday.
The winners will be notified as soon as the judging has taken place.
Cash prizes of £50, £30 and £20 are up for grabs.
