Manx National Heritage will be hosting a free lunchtime film screening about the making of Ronaldsway Airport on Wednesday, July 21 at the iMuseum on Kingswood Grove.
The footage, filmed by J. Walter Royston, shows the redevelopment of Ronaldsway Airport which was first used as an airfield in 1928, with passenger services to the UK operated by Blackpool and West Coast Air Services starting in 1933.
In 1948 it was sold to the Manx government for £200,000, which is less than the £1 million that the UK government had spent on building the airport.
The footage is the second in a series of films which can now be found on www.imuseum.im by clicking the ’Isle of Man on Film’ image in the homepage. If you want tickets to the midday screening visit https://manxnationalheritage.im/whats-on.
