Superhero children from across the island have received a Christmas treat thanks to a charity Secret Santa initiative.
A Little Piece of Hope invited nominations for youngsters that have had a tough year either through sickness or hardship to receive a Christmas treat.
Helen Sheppard explained: ’We have had 97 children receiving gifts this year and our aim as a charity is to recognise these amazing children for what they go through, throughout the year.
’There are many reasons for nominations: long-term illnesses, special needs, charitable deeds, supportive brothers and sisters, overcoming bullying, loss of a family member etc.
’The look on the children’s faces just melts you every time. They are ecstatic, and to see Santa and Mrs Claus is a dream come true for them.’
A party was held at the Fun Barn in Onchan for children aged eight to 10 at the weekend.
Each of the children spent time with Santa and received a present.
And a separate party was held at La Gusto Pizza in Port Erin for teenagers.
There, they enjoyed pizza and Pepsi and were also given a present.
Orry’s Class at Henry Bloom Noble School, in Douglas, were presented with a ball pit.
And a number of children were presented with presents in home visits.
Helen said: ’It’s worth it to see those kids when they hear you say they have been amazing over the year and overcome so much.’
