Pom poms are at the ready as award-winning semi-professional cheerleader Louisa Bowsker joins MoveIt Dance’s teaching team.
Louisa lives in the Isle of Man and while at Liverpool John Moores University she joined a cheer team and soon advanced within the sport.
During three years of cheering she has won Coed Level Four at Future Cheer in earlier this year and Level Two All-Girls at JamFest Cheer and Dance in 2016.
Before cheerleading Louisa was a gymnast and gymnastic coach for more than a decade developing experience in training and motivating children.
Recently 70 students from Moveit Dance attended Cheerdance UK in Blackpool bringing home 37 trophies.
MoveIt Dance founder Kate Caine said: ’We’re delighted to have Louisa joining our team and I know that the kids are so excited to have such a well-respected cheerleader teaching them.
’Not only will Louisa help the students to improve their skills and increase their repertoire but will be a massive source of inspiration to them.’
The MoveIt studio is based on Westmoreland Road, Douglas.
Louisa added: ’I’ve personally experienced the benefits dancing, particularly cheerleading, brings from improving health and fitness to building confidence and making new friends.
’Whether students want to compete or just get involved in a positive activity I would highly recommend cheerdance.’
MoveIt Dance is holding a free ’try out’ week May 22 for children interested in any of the 13 dance styles it offers, including cheer, hip hop, and ballet. Children aged two to 18 can visit the studio to have taster classes in their chosen genres. Visit Moveit.im for full details on how to book.
