A Ramsey woman is asking the public to send cards to her grandmother for her 99th birthday.

Emma Parry has taken to social media to ask the Manx public for their help.

She said: ’My wonderful nan, Gladys, turns 99 on the December 19. She hasn’t been well of late and I’d like to pick her up a bit, she is very old school so loves receiving cards etc in the post.

’I was thinking if I reached out and asked you lovely lot - would anyone be kind enough to send her a birthday card?

’She is amazed when I put posts up on my Facebook about her and she gets to read so many lovely comments, it’s a real boost for her.’

Miss Parry added: ’She is going to be blown away by the response - on previous post she is amazed by people sending messages to her so the response of this will really be the boost that she needs.

’She is just amazing, she has had a tough life and seen so many historic events, and watched her kids, grandkids and great grandkids grow up into teenagers - not many can say that.

’Her zest for life is inspiring. She is so family focused, even at her age, and she’s made sure her family has that at the front of their mind. Family is everything, if you have a loving family around you, you’re the richest of the rich.’

She said that she wanted to make Gladys’s 99th birthday ’one to remember’.
