More than 1,000 people attended the Thriller in the Villa charity boxing night, which is now in its seventh year.

So far the boxers from the ten bouts have raised £6,431 for a number of island charities which they chose, with donations still coming in.

Previously the event has included boxers fighting for either Team Ramsey or Douglas, but with the event under new management this has now changed with boxers split into teams from the North, South, East and West.

The winning boxers were: Nathan Quayle, Karl Drinkwater, Andrew Craine, Sean Reaney, Whizz Wilson, Bradley Mitchell, Lois Mooney, Callum Cowley, and Matthew Teare.

Onlookers described the atmosphere in the Villa as ’electric’ and unlike any other event that can be seen in the venue throughout the year.

It was compered by Lisa Kreisky and James Turpin, with entertainment provided by Gena’s Dance Academy and Ariel and Adele.

Hospice fundraising champion Dylan Walton, 9, who has cerebral palsy, was presented with a pair of signed boxing gloves belonging to professional boxer Callum Johnson.

And Boris Kostov swapped the boxing ring for an engagement ring, proposing to his girlfriend after his bout.

The event was also filmed and broadcast via livestream, and screened in the 1886 nightclub - which also hosted the VIP afterparty.
