A Douglas farmer has discovered bite marks on a small number of his sheep on Sunday.
It is thought that a loose dog has attacked the flock while on the farmer’s private property, causing the animals to become frightened and scatter out of the fields.
The discovery was made between 9am and 10am in Novemeber 12 on land close to Governors Hill and Douglas Lawn Cemetery on Johnny Watterson’s Lane.
Under Section 17 of the Dogs Act 1990, keepers who do not have proper control of their dogs, which have been causing stress to livestock on agricultural land, could receive a £2500 fine.
Photos have been released at the request of the farmer of the wounded sheep to remind the public to keep control of their dogs.
The police are asking for information in regards to the incident, and advise witnesses to contact PC 303 Rebekah Collings at Police Headquarters on 631212.
