Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man has received more than £1,000 from the sale of shopping bags at the Governor’s Hill Spar in Douglas.

Each bag costs 5p.

Ernie Russell, owner of Governor’s Hill Spar, said: ’Every year we give away the money raised on sales of 5p carrier bags to a deserving charity, this year we have raised £1,043 and our nominated charity is Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man.’

Amanda Cafearo, chief executive at Cruse, said: ’Thank you to everyone involved in raising these funds including Ernie Russell, his team and all the customers that purchased carrier bags during the year.

’Thhis is an amazing donation and will help us continue with our mission to support bereaved people on the Isle of Man.’
