A short film produced by a local theatre company has won several awards.

’Limelight’ was produced by Three Legs Productions - a company aimed at fostering development of youth in theatre as well as exploring a variety of innovative and new shows and plays.

It was written by David Dawson and filmed over two days at the Gaiety Theatre back in October 2020.

It was a labour of love for all involved, who mostly wanted something to do between lockdowns when the entertainment industry ground to a halt.

It follows a recently bereaved man as he works through his grief with the help of a friendly ballerina.

The film has now won two awards at the 2021 Amsterdam Pure Magic International Film Festival.

It scooped ’Best Romantic Short Film’ and ’Best Musical Short Film’.

Three Legs Productions thanked everyone who supported the production and creation of the short, especially the Isle of Man Arts Council.

It has also been chosen as a finalist at the Oregon Short Film Festival which takes place in February.

This means it made the top 30% of entries to the festival.

Speaking of the Oregon festival, the group said: ’We couldn’t be more excited. We are only sad we can’t fly out to be there.’

l Limelight will be available to watch on YouTube soon.
