Two locally-made films are still in contention for awards as part of a major film festival, despite the event being cancelled for 2020.
Two short films , produced by Manx filmmakers Dark Avenue and Brook Wassall, were nominated in the short form film category of the Celtic Media Festival, which was due to take place in Quimper, Brittany, at the start of next month.
The organisers took the decision early on to cancel the public festival side of the event, but will still hold the annual ’Torc’ Awards for Excellence in film, television and animation.
Celtic Media Festival director Catriona Logan says: ’Before we went into lockdown our juries had begun viewing shortlisted programmes and fortunately technology has allowed us to continue with the judging process for these much-sought-after industry awards.
’We hope everyone will join us online to celebrate some amazing work from the Celtic nations and regions, and beyond, over the past year.’
The awards will be announced live on the Celtic Media Festival Facebook page on Thursday, June 11 at 8pm.
