Prospect trade union is taking part in a major recruitment and information drive this week.

It is participating in HeartsUnion Week, which aims to let non-members know what Prospect can do for them and what it has achieved.

The union’s office in Victoria Street, Douglas, will be open between 9am and midday, today (Monday) to Friday, to allow members and non-members to drop in and talk to trained workplace representatives.

Mick Hewer, Prospect’s Isle of Man negotiations officer, also called on existing members to talk to their colleagues about the value of being in a union and to encourage them to find out more about Prospect.

Mr Hewer said: ’Last year, nationally, we recruited nearly 1,000 new members and locally in the island we saw our membership grow by 90 new joiners, 30 of these directly as a result of our Union Week activity which took place in November 2018.

’This year I hope that we can do better still.’

Prospect’s office is at Chesterfield House, 10-13 Victoria Street in Douglas, and the union can also be contacted at [email protected] or on 625800.

The union is offering three months’ free membership for those who join during HeartsUnion Week.

Existing members who help to recruit new members will be rewarded with a £10 Marks & Spencer voucher.
