Castle Rushen was transformed into a winter wonderland fit for a queen.

Taking up residence in her winter palace, the Snow Queen cordially invited her subjects for a private audience in her throne room inside the historic landmark.

The special day was inspired by Hans Christian Anderson and was open for all to enter the winter realm.

Dressed in glamorous furry gowns in shades of white and blue, the Snow Queen - Niamh Murdoch - and her assistants made quite a picture amongst the frosty Christmas tree and royal settings of the castle.

Before the grand meeting, her guests were entertained by costumed performers and music while they explored the medieval castle in the ancient capital, Castletown.

Admission was £10 per person, which included a gift for all children aged two and above and refreshments for adults.
