The Sound Cafe and Restaurant could get new operators after the building’s owner, Manx National Heritage, advertised its lease.

MNH is seeking proposals from people to ’grow and develop an attraction which is popular with visitors and locals alike’.

Located in the south of the island, it’s open all year, with the peak during the main tourist season of Easter to October.

Steve Blackford, head of properties at MNH, said: ’As an organisation, it is standard practice for us to run a competitive process for our catering services at fixed periods.’

The Cregneash Cafe (Creg y Shee), which operates during the visitor season, is included as part of this deal.

The current operators of the cafe put a statement on social media, saying: ’We want to reassure customers and suppliers that it is our intention to do the best application possible that will secure us for another 10 years. It would help us if you would support us by writing us an email/letter that we can place in our bid package.’

Invitations to lease the buildings are for an initial period of five years with a possible five-year extension, subject to contract. Chrystals is working on behalf of Manx National Heritage and interested parties should contact them for further informations. All proposals must be received by January 31.
