Southern Dippers are inviting all who took part in the 2021 Santander Splash New Year Dips to hear the grand total for this year’s events announced.

A photo call and cheque presentation will take place at 12.30pm The Bay Hotel, Port Erin, this Saturday (February 27).

Santander International sponsored the 20th Anniversary event which was also supported by Pokerstars, Macro Metal, Financial Options and Bushy’s Brewery.

All monies raised will go to chosen charity Isle Listen, an island-based mental health and wellbeing initiative.

Southern Dippers organised four dips in the south in aid of Isle Listen - at Port Erin Beach, Chapel Beach followed by the inner harbour at Port St Mary and Brewery Beach at Gansey.

It started out as a small fundraising idea formulated in the pub.

And the hardy group of folk in the south of the island have notched up no fewer than 83 dips over their 20 year history.

During that time they have raised just over £57,000 for many charities, not including the grand total for the 2021 events.

They have also been lucky to have several companies support them.

Each dip takes place near a hostelry. And the proprietors have always accommodated and supplied hot drinks, soups, biscuits and in some cases cellophaned seats to sit on for the those who have braved the water.
