We have lift off!
A spacecraft which has flown twice in outer space has headed off on another mission.
The Soviet-era Almaz reusable re-entry capsule, which is based at Castle Rushen High School as part of an all-island educational project to promote student science, is going on temporary display in Israel.
Owners Excalibur Almaz Limited were invited by the Israeli Space Agency to exhibit it in Jerusalem for a meeting of national science ministers to be held on May 28. During this meeting the Ramon Foundation and the Israeli Ministry of Science will announce a similar Excalibur Almaz space capsule now in France will be used to fly student experiments into space as the Ramon SpaceLab.
The CRHS spacecraft will then be displayed to the public and returned home to the school after the TT.
Island high school students will be invited to suggest experiments to be flown into space on the Ramon Spacelab.
