An Isle of Man Special Olympics team is travelling to the most southerly tip of mainland Europe for the 34th Gibraltar National Games.

The squad departs Ronaldsway this evening (Tuesday) in time to attend the opening ceremony on Wednesday.

They will be taking part in athletics, swimming , ten-pin bowling , five-a-side football and the newly-introduced sport of golf.

The football team consists of Peter Taylor, Liam McCarthy, David Hudson, Mark Henry, Jamie Comaish, Tom Hall, Jamie Hardie and Ben Mowle.

Ten-pin Bowling - Sean Roberts, Tomas Dawe, Michael Boyle and Shaun Anderson; Athletics - Duncan Watterson (captain), Tomas Dawe, Matthew Callin and Lawrence Dyer; swimming - Katie Dulson, Julie Hinstridge, Natasha Keig, Jamie Comaish; golf - Sean Roberts and Peter Taylor.

The team returns home on Sunday.
