Sporting Club Isle of Man will become the new main sponsor for the Manx Youth Games.
This will come into effect from 2022 to 2024 as the club supports the event for the next three games.
The Manx Youth Games are the biggest multi-sport event for young people from school years two to 10 in the Isle of Man.
It attracts over 1,000 participants across a variety of sports with over 50 weekly training sessions delivered across the island by qualified sports coaches.
Tony Keating, chair of Sporting Club Isle of Man, said: ’The club is really looking forward to our involvement with the Manx Youth Games.
’We are driven to provide opportunities which will benefit as broad a range of our community as possible.’
A donation was made by Mark Scheinberg to the club as part of the Scheinberg Relief Fund, set up to tackle the direct impact of Covid-19.
Mr Keating continued: ’We would like to thank the Sheinberg family for their financial donation which has enabled us to fund the Manx Youth Games for the next three years.’
The games offer young people the opportunity to try new sports or activities from January until the games and encourages participants to continue with sport throughout the year.
The Minister for the Department for Education, Sport and Culture, Dr Alex Allinson MHK, added: ’We are delighted.
’I would like to extend my thanks to the club for their commitment to support the games and I look forward to the exciting times ahead implementing some of the ideas which the new sponsor has to grow and strengthen this incredible initiative.’
Sporting Club Isle of Man is the umbrella organisation that includes FC Isle of Man, which hopes to make its debut in the English non-league system later this month, and Cycling Club Isle of Man.
