The stars of Mulan, the new musical based on the Disney cartoon, which is about to hit the Gaiety Theatre stage, paid a visit to a number of the island’s primary schools this week.
Members of the cast, including local star performer Robin-Mae Lawler, who is one of the two actresses who will take on the lead role of ’Mulan’, a young Chinese girl who becomes one of China’ greatest heroines, and a Chinese dragon from the play met with school children from Rushen Primary School and Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey in full costume.
They told the children about what it takes to appear in as big Gaiety theatre production, and they also sang songs from the show, including ’Reflection’.
Mulan is being produced by local theatre company JT Productions.
Along with Robin-Mae, the title role will be played by another local teen star of the stage, Amy Gravestock.
Amy won this year’s ’Next Big Thing’ competition, run by Junior Achievement, and went onto feature in a short film, Invader’s Song, alongside Hollywood star John Rhys Davies.
Tickets for Mulan, which opens on Wednesday November 1 for a run of four night and four matinee performances, are on sale now, with prices starting at £17 stalls and £18 circle, for an adult ticket, £16 for OAPs and from £14 for under 16s, available from the Villa Gaiety box office and website.
