The Henry Bloom Noble Library in Douglas is calling for children aged four to 11 to sign up to read six books this summer as part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The scheme’s 2018 theme is Mischief Makers, inspired by the children’s comic The Beano, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Children will explore a map of Beanotown to find the mysterious buried treasure and become ultimate mischief makers. Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and friends will help them solve clues and collect stickers, having lots of fun and adventures along the way.
To take part in the challenge all children need to do is sign up for free at the library. They’ll receive a special collector’s folder and as they borrow and read at least six library books, they can collect stickers to complete the adventure.
They will also receive other fun incentives as they progress through the challenge.
Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge launches at the library on Saturday, July 14, from 9am when registration opens and runs until Saturday, September 8.
There’s a programme of workshops planned for children taking part and tickets and details will be available from registration day.
