On most Sundays, newspaper supplies to the Isle of Man are shipped overnight on the 2.15am Ben my Chree sailing from Heysham and are in the shops when they open.
But the Steam Packet has had to make a late adjustment to the sailing schedule and there will therefore be no overnight sailing arriving into the island this Sunday.
The Newspaper Publishers’ Association has chartered an aircraft to fly in the Sunday newspapers.
Unfortunately, due to the present restricted opening hours on Ronaldsway, the plane will not be able to land until just before 3pm.
Wholesaler GE White will be carrying out a full island distribution on Sunday afternoon and those newsagents with home selivery services will be making special arrangements to get copies to their customers as early as possible.
Many of the island’s forecourt and convenience outlets are also open in the early evening.
GE White has asked shops to keep the Sunday papers on sale on Monday.
