The Manx Heart Support Group has donated a set of medical equipment to the Manx Sailing and Crusing Club in Ramsey.

The items were handed over by Rick Bellwood, who is treasurer of the Manx Heart Support Group during an RYA First Aid course.

The equipment includes a mannequin for carrying out CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), a Qualsafe trauma kit for bandage practice, various pressure bandages, and a prosthetic arm with tourniquet for tourniquet practice.

MS&CC’s rear commodore, Dr May-Shiu Chan, who was taking the First Aid course, said: ’We are extremely grateful to the Manx Heart Support Group for the donation of this equipment, which will assist first aid instruction at the club in future. An important difference is that we can use the defibrillator on the new mannequin, whereas we couldn’t on the old one.’
